Casting call results for The Pendant Shakespeare modern rendition of: As You Like It

Pendant Productions is getting geared up to do a modern rendition of Shakespeare’s As You Like It as part of their The Pendant Shakespeare audio drama. Sometimes referred to as Wild Bill Variety Show.

About the show

“The Pendant Shakespeare aka The Wild Bill Variety Show” is an ongoing presentation of the works of William Shakespeare.

“If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which grain will grow and which will not, speak then to me.”

William Shakespeare died April 23rd, 1616, and almost 400 years later we still perform his plays, read his writings, and discuss his characters. He has truly achieved immortality, the likes of which a fellow writer can only dream of.

This century has seen many advances, but even now we still have as much to learn from his plays. Their plots have become an integral part of our culture, and his words ring true today. “The quality of mercy is not strained.” “Be not afraid of greatness.” “if you prick us do we not bleed?” “There are more things in heaven and earth… then are dreamt of in your philosophy.” “Love sought is good; love unsought is better.” “To be, or not to be, that is the question.”

Here we have tried to bring the majesty and power of Shakespeare to the modern listener.  You know the stories, you know these people, you know how it ends; you’re not here for that. Come for the ride, and to experience the journey.

This isn’t academic Shakespeare, this is for the everyday listener. Join us as we bring the text to life.

Greetings, one and all! Dramaturge Landon Beall here with the casting call results for our high fantasy adaptation of As You Like It in The Pendant Shakespeare!

Folks turned out in droves for this casting call, which was very exciting for us in this busy part of the year! This is Director Swen Halverson and Assistant Director George Linfield’s first time selecting the final cast, and it wasn’t an easy selection for them to make. In fact, it’s one of the most difficult casting decisions we’ve ever had to make. Because we only have 25 roles to offer, there are a number of you who we were unable to cast even though your auditions were AMAZING. Please keep trying, though! We’ll have another casting call in the summer, and we’d love to have you be a part! You’ll also be the first people we consider if any recasting occurs.

In addition, while most auditions were very good, a couple of you didn’t have good audio quality. If you weren’t cast and you’re concerned about audio quality, please feel free to shoot me an email at and I’ll be more than happy to help sort out your audio issues and get you prepared for our next play!

So, without (much) further ado… The cast of As You Like It.
